The new Ray Baum’s 911 ruling requiring hotels send a dispatchable location with 911 calls. This means old fashioned telephone lines will no longer be able to comply with Federal Regulations. Phone systems will need to use digital connections such as Hosted PBX, SIP Trunks or SIP PRI.
Hosted PBX
HotelFone Hosted PBX has a low initial cost of entry, often similar to installing a PRI card on an older system. HotelFone Hosted PBX does not require a phone number for each registered phone, and the Dispatchable Location Listing charge is slightly lower than that for either a SIP Trunk or SIP PRI.
SIP Trunks and PRIs are digital circuits that provide many call paths with only one connection.
Both allow multiple phone numbers per “line” making them able to support Dispatchable Locations.
SIP PRI
A SIP PRI solution protects your investment in a legacy onsite phone system while offering the configuration options needed to send a dispatchable location with 911 calls. PRIs may require a phone number for each registered phone, adding some cost compared to Hosted VoIP or SIP trunks.
SIP TRUNKS
SIP Trunks have the lowest monthly recurring cost of any compliant solution. They do require a SIP enabled PBX such as one of our Matrix systems. Our SIP Trunks come with an initial 4 channels, and can burst to accommodate call loads.
Dispatchable Location Listing
AMI registers each listed phone with the National 911 database. There is a monthly charge associated with each listing, and this charge depends on how the Dispatchable Location information is being sent, from a HotelFone Hosted system, or SIP trunk or PRI.
